Think about it....

I
I walk down the street,
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost...I am helpless,
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

II
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I am in the same place.
But, it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

III
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it there.
I still fall in... Its a habit... but,
my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
Its my fault.
I get out immediately.

IV
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

V.
I WALK DOWN ANOTHER STREET

All right. Great example of how we learn and the process that it takes. Good post. Had to smile. I think I have taken that walk several times.

I like this. It is such a great example of how we learn some of the more difficult lessons in life.

I love this poem by Portia Nelson. I saw it illustrated once with a "Walking Man".

Just shows me how many times we get it wrong before we learn to get it right . Old habits are hard to break, but not impossible !

Oh, how I relate! I think I was there last week, finally realizing I need to go down a different street.
